FDA Councils, Committees & Task Groups: Shaping the Future of Dentistry

Councils
Established by the FDA House of Delegates, councils monitor trends and issues affecting public dental health and the profession. Their primary role is to recommend policy changes that align with FDA’s mission. Councils remain active until formally dissolved by the House of Delegates.
Committees
Committees may be created by the FDA Board of Trustees or the House of Delegates to investigate specific matters or manage projects, programs, or events that require minimal oversight. Unless designated as a standing committee in their founding resolution, committees automatically conclude upon completion of their assigned charge.
Task Groups
Task groups are short-term teams formed by the FDA President or Board of Trustees to address targeted issues. They automatically disband once their purpose is fulfilled. Members are selected based on their expertise in the relevant area.
